If you found that the Onboard NIC (IPV4)/Onboard NIC (IPV6) are not shown in Boot Menu on your Alienware m15 R4 and ALIENWARE M17 R4.(See Figure.1) Figure.1 Boot Menu Affected systems Alienware M15 R4 Alienware M17 R4
It is a design limitation on Intel E3100X IC .
This is not a hardware issue. E3100X is unable to set up Onboard NIC (IPV4) and Onboard NIC (IPV6) boot function when the system is a cold boot. The onboard NIC (IPV4) and Onboard NIC (IPV6) boot function only show when the system is a warm boot. Please refer to the below steps to further set up: Power on system and boot into Windows Restart system. Press F2/F12 during the BIOS splash screen. The BIOS LAN boot option will be in the BIOS setup or boot menu. ( See Figure.2 ) Figure.2 UEFI BOOT OPTION
