Upgrading to AppSync 4.0. The issue may also be seen after Applying a hotfix on AppSync 3.9.0.1 Following an upgrade to 4.0 or applying a hotfix on Appsync 3.9.0.1 the AppSync Server service will not start, therefor the AppSync GUI will not be able to connect. The following error will be seen when attempting to access the GUI. Error 404 not found Restarting the AppSync Server service is not successful. The following will be seen in the hosts System Event log: Error <AppSync Server host Name>. 7024 Service Control Manager The EMC AppSync Server Service service terminated with the following service-specific error: Incorrect function. The AppSync Server log will not contain any entries from AppSync 4.0 since the AppSync Server will not start.
The standalone.xml file located in "C:\EMC\AppSync\jboss\standalone\configuration" by default includes two entries for cas.server in the <system-properties> section. Specifically, the two entries that start with <property name="cas.server like so : <system-properties> <property name="appsync.base.dir" value="C:\EMC\AppSync"/> <property name="cas.server" value="ASServer.dom.com"/> <property name="cas.server" value="ASServer.dom.com"/> <property name="appsync.server" value="ASServer.dom.com"/> The duplicate entries is the cause for the AppSync Server not starting. The cause of the duplicate entries is not fully known, but may be related to 3.9.0.1 application or removal with or without subsequent hotfixes.
Make a backup of the standalone.xml file. located in "C:\EMC\AppSync\jboss\standalone\configuration" by default Edit the standalone.xml and remove the duplicate <property name="cas.server" line that does NOT include the property name <property name="appsync.server" like so: <system-properties> <property name="appsync.base.dir" value="C:\EMC\AppSync"/> <property name="cas.server" value="ASServer.dom.com"/> <property name="appsync.server " value="ASServer.dom.com"/> Start the AppSync Server service. Note: "ASServer.dom.com" in above example will be the Fully Qualified Domain Name of the affected AppSync Server.
