Attempting to install the "Digital License" file using the UI for a VPLEX Metro setup fails in the below scenario's: Log in to VPLEX Cluster-1 management server IP, the .lic file for cluster-1 is accepted while the .lic file for cluster-2 fails by throwing below error message Log in to VPLEX Cluster-2 management server IP, the .lic file for cluster-2 is accepted while the .lic file for cluster-1 fails by throwing below error message Error message for each situation above: Error-'VPLEXID' property value does not match with the cluster TLA 'CKM00XXXXXX' for the feature 'XXXXX'. Refer to the EMC VPLEX Troubleshooting Guide to resolve this issue
Although the UI can show the installed licenses for both VPLEX clusters connected in a Metro setup, when attempting to add the license the code internally checks for "VPLEXID" of the cluster management server the installation is being performed from and compares it to the "VPLEXID" in the .lic file. If you are on cluster-1 trying to install the eLicense on cluster-2, there is a mismatch between the cluster-1 VPLEXID you are running the install of the eLicense from and the "VPLEXID" in the .lic file of the remote VPLEX cluster, and an error is triggered and the license file is not accepted.
In-order to resolve the issue, install the .lic file by logging into each Cluster UI individually as adding a license file from a single UI cluster console does not work for its peer cluster: Cluster-1: Log in to the Cluster-1 management server UI console Install the .lic file of cluster-1 only and add the .lic file for cluster-1. Cluster-2: Log in to the Cluster-2 management server UI console Install the .lic file of cluster-2 only and add the .lic file for cluster-2.
