Tunnel interface configured with a sub-interface as the "tunnel source" loses this configuration after a reload. interface Tunnel1 ip address 203.0.113.1 255.255.255.0 tunnel source TenGigabitEthernet0/1/1.10 tunnel destination 192.0.2.2 If a physical interface is used instead, the configuration will not disappear but the tunnel interface may stay "down". In this case, we can bring the interface back up by re-applying the "tunnel source" configuration.
C8300 router with a C-NIM-4X module parses the configuration before the module boots up completely. This makes it so that configurations dependent on the C-NIM-4X interfaces may disappear since the interfaces didn't exist when the configuration was processed.
The customer may use an EEM or TCLSH script to reapply the missing configurations after a reload.
