Symptom

SSH access to ASA and then run connect fxos admin will get following error, even after using local console. ciscoasa# connect fxos admin Configuring session. . Connecting to FXOS. ERROR: failed to open connection. Connection with FXOS terminated. Error connecting to FXOS Type help or '?' for a list of available commands. ciscoasa#

Conditions

In ASA appliance-mode, continually run 'connect fxos' followed by 'exit' from the FXOS CLI. Eventually, 'connect fxos [admin]' from ASA appliance mode Lina CLI will fail with "ERROR: failed to open connection". SSH is not required, this is reproducible from the console.
