Symptom
After upgrade to fix related defect CSCvy10601, some Catalyst 9200L switches continue to report fan failure messages, but reported faulty fan can be observed still operational / spinning.
The messages displayed constantly
%PLATFORM_THERMAL-6-FRU_FAN_RECOVERY: Switch 1: System fan # recovered to normal status
%PLATFORM_THERMAL-1-FRU_FAN_FAILURE: Switch 1: System fan # failed
show environment fan
Switch FAN Speed State
---------------------------------------------------
1 1 5160 OK
1 2 0 NOT PRESENT or FAULTY
* Physically the FAN # works although it displayed the error messages
* The temperature of the device is in normal parameters
Conditions
* Must be running a fixed version for CSCvy10601
* FAN # reports a failure
* FAN # shows a message that it recovered
* Reload doesn't help, message comes back after a while
Workaround
- Reload (Fix the issue temporarily)
If reload does not clear condition then power cycle.
The workaround is temporary.
