The following logs are shown every 5 minutes for unused power supply in a C8300 or ISR4451 router: *Aug 27 17:56:58.830: %ENVIRONMENTAL-1-ALERT: V: PEM Out, Location: P0, State: Warning, Reading: 0 mV *Aug 27 17:56:58.839: %ENVIRONMENTAL-1-ALERT: RPM: fan0, Location: P0, State: Warning, Reading: 0 RPM
- A PSU is present but not turned on, plugged in, or receiving power (confirm via "show platform" that state is, eg: "fail, badinput").
Attach the PSU to a valid power source or turn it on if it's a model that has a toggle. These logs are expected behavior and are important to keep to inform the end user when a PSU is not receiving power. Therefore, this is not a valid software defect and was closed by Cisco development with no plans to modify the behavior in future IOS-XE versions.
