The following logs get randomly generated and keep repeating themselves: %IOSXE_INFRA-6-PROCPATH_CLIENT_HOG: IOS shim client 'chasfs' has taken 252 msec (runtime: 252 msec) to process a 'stack chasfs fd' message %IOSXE_INFRA-6-PROCPATH_CLIENT_HOG: IOS shim client 'chasfs' has taken 340 msec (runtime: 340 msec) to process a 'stack chasfs fd' message %IOSXE_INFRA-6-PROCPATH_CLIENT_HOG: IOS shim client 'chasfs' has taken 292 msec (runtime: 292 msec) to process a 'stack chasfs fd' message
These logs were observed on Catalyst 9200 or 9200L switches. The 'stack chasfs fd' messages related to environmental conditions (power supply/fan/etc status) should be processed within 250 msec, but some of them took a little more time.
This is cosmetic issue. In order to avoid filling the logs a logging discriminator could be applied.
This is a cosmetic issue which might occur when handling certain IPC messages (about power supply modules, fans, etc..) might take slightly more time than expected (e.g. 300 ms instead of 250 ms). Changes implemented in fixed software versions optimize the way the environmental information about power/fan/etc.. is being distributed internally - the relevant IPC messages are being sent only when there's an actually update to be communicated within the system, rather than getting sent periodically (regardless if there's any update or not). These changes are committed into: - IOSXE 16.12.6 and newer - IOSXE 17.3.1 and newer (including newer 17.x releases).
