Remote leaf cannot join the fabric when cos 6 is configured in IPN. Since, there is a valid workaround, this issue is being release noted for Jefferson release.
Remote leaf switch discovery does not happen, causing the remote leaf switch to not join the fabric.
This issue occurs when an IPN router configured with CoS 6 and a remote leaf switch is clean reloaded to join the Cisco ACI fabric. A remote leaf switch with a stateful reload will work fine with CoS preservation or a multipod policy configuration.
Do not use CoS 6 in an IPN router to avoid this problem.
During Remote leaf clean reload, if IPN is configured with cos 6, it will cause the packets coming from the IFC to be sent to traceroute process incorrectly. This will happen since there is no cos preservation or mpod policy config present in the remote leaf during clean reload. The qos config will be pushed by the IFC to the RL only after the leaf joins the fabric. But for the RL to join fabric, IFC traffic needs to be correctly sent to IFC process. However, IFC packets coming with cos 6 are incorrectly forwarded to traceroute process causing the initial discovery process to fail. Hence, RL will not join the ACI fabric.
