Symptom

The following alert will be generated by the FMC. URL Filtering Monitor URL Filtering registration failure. /var/log/messages will have the following ERROR: SF-IMS[10851]: [13456] CloudAgent:BeakerAPI [INFO] Beaker registration result: bkr_msg->data->str[Problem with registration request: (400) Bad Request], bkr_msg->data->len[52] SF-IMS[10851]: [13456] CloudAgent:BeakerReg [ERROR] registration failed : [Problem with registration request: (400) Bad Request]

Conditions

FMC on version 6.5 and above, which uses Talos Beakerd service for URL lookups.

Workaround

On smart licensing virtual account, change the name of the virtual account to an input that does not contain special characters by accessing: "Cisco Software Central -> Manage Smart Account -> Virtual Accounts -> Edit Virtual Account'. Once the Virtual Account name is changed, beaker will send the next registration request in an interval of 5 minutes, and URL registration will proceed as expected.
