Cat9300 stack of switches might encounter a rare condition upon IOS upgrade from 16.09.02 to 16.09.03 in INSTALL mode when STACK-POWER cables are connected but STACK-POWER ports configured as STANDALONE. Cat9300 stack of switches IOS upgrade from 16.09.02 to 16.09.03 in INSTALL mode STACK-POWER cables are connected STACK-POWER ports configured as STANDALONE
-Power Cycle -If device equipped with two power supply in my test I unplugged one cable wait for 10sec plugged back in and PoE will turn back on -If device had only one PS in my case I add another one and once power apply PoE turn back on
To prevent this issue if STACK-POWER cables are installed make sure that STACK-POWER ports are NOT in STANDALONE mode WRONG: F340.26.03-9300-11#sh stack-power Power Stack Stack Stack Total Rsvd Alloc Sw_Avail Num Num Name Mode Topolgy Pwr(W) Pwr(W) Pwr(W) Pwr(W) SW PS -------------------- ------ ------- ------ ------ ------ ------ ----- ---- Powerstack-1 SP-PS Stndaln 2200 0 349 1851 1 2 Powerstack-11 SP-PS Stndaln 2200 0 247 1953 1 2 CORRECT F340.26.03-9300-11#sh stack-power Power Stack Stack Stack Total Rsvd Alloc Sw_Avail Num Num Name Mode Topolgy Pwr(W) Pwr(W) Pwr(W) Pwr(W) SW PS -------------------- ------ ------- ------ ------ ------ ------ ----- ---- Powerstack-1 SP-PS Ring 4400 30 596 3774 2 4 This seems to only affect upgrade from 16.9.2 to 16.9.3 in other words upgrade from 16.9.2 to 16.9.4 or 16.9.3 to 16.9.4 replicated in the lab was fine.
