Symptom

while trying to remove software, Cisco IOS-XE SD-WAN router gives confusing error: router#request platform software sdwan software remove 16.10.2 DEBUG item does not exist - cli command error Error executing command: item does not exist - cli command error

running IOS-XE SDWAN software

Workaround

If trying to remove a version, make sure it’s not the default one, otherwise you will get an output of 'bad cli'. You can check with ‘show sdwan software’ what version is set to default. If only 1 version listed, install another version, activate and set it to default. If more than 1 versions are listed, set the other version to default, and the remove the old one. NOTE: This bug was opened to change the error output when trying to remove a version set to default.
