SPAN capture on 2nd generation ACI LEAF (-EX) does now show the correct header information for outgoing flooded VxLAN traffic. It will show an internal hardware ID, which is called EPG HWID or BG HWID, as VLAN ID instead infra VLAN. Also it does not show any VxLAN or other outer headers in the SPAN. Therefore, it looks as if ACI LEAF is sending a packet with bogus VLAN without VxLAN encapsulation in SPAN. Most of the time, this is only in SPAN and the actual traffic is sent out with correct VXLAN encapsulation. But due to this defect, SPAN capture for outgoing flood VxLAN traffic is not reliable.
SPAN capture for outgoing flood VxLAN traffic on ACI LEAF (-EX) Unicast VxLAN traffic or non-VxLAN traffic is not affected by this defect. Incoming flood VxLAN traffic is not affected either and captured with correct VxLAN encapsulation in SPAN.
none
More precisely, the internal ID used in the bogus VLAN ID is the last 12 bits of EPG HWID or BD HWID. EPG/BD HWID can be obtained by "show platform internal hal l2 fd (or bd) pi" command in vsh_lc mode on ACI LEAF.
