imagefile.bin images available locally on bootflash: gets deleted on executing install remove inactive when it is booted with boot param bootflash: . This affects the box during next reload as configured file in boot param is no more available
for cat3k and cat9k switches 1. if boot param is set to bootflash: and box is booted with the same 2. if "install remove inactive" command is executed on the box, command fails to detect that .bin file located in bootflash is in use and marks it for deletion. User may fail to recognize the file if the delete list is very long. On accepting the user prompt, .bin file will get deleted along with other files. 3. after this if box reloads for any reason, it will not find at the bootflash: and it will fail to boot No impact is seen if a) if box is currently booted with flash: and boot param is set to same. OR b) User declines the install remove inactive user prompt for deletion confirmation
set BOOT PARAM to flash: instead of bootflash: Recovery: if file is lost, it has to be explicitly copied to bootflash again to avoid any issues on next reload
