Symptom

The device that is affected by this software defect might be dealing with interfaces flapping unexpectedly or going into err-disabled. In order to hit this issue, at least one condition should be met as described in the section below.

Conditions

1. Interface is going into err-disabled even without SFP inserted into the port reported. Logs that might be observed: %PLATFORM_PM-6-MODULE_ERRDISABLE: The inserted SFP module with interface name Te1/1/3 is not supported %PM-4-ERR_DISABLE: gbic-invalid error detected on Te1/1/3, putting Te1/1/3 in err-disable state %PM-4-ERR_RECOVER: Attempting to recover from gbic-invalid err-disable state on Te1/1/3 2. Interface is flapping unexpectedly. Logs that might be observed: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1/4, changed state to up %PLATFORM_PM-6-MODULE_REMOVED: SFP module with interface name Te1/1/4 removed %PLATFORM_PM-6-MODULE_INSERTED: SFP module inserted with interface name Te1/1/4 %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1/4, changed state to down %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1/4, changed state to up OR %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1/4, changed state to up %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1/4, changed state to down %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1/4, changed state to up - The problem has been observed on SKUs WS-C3850-24XU and WS-C3850-12X48U running 03.07.03E and 03.07.04. - Problem is happening quite randomly. - Physically re-seating the SFP or applying shut/no shut on the interface is not helpful. - Issue can be observed on any uplink. This issue is not specific to Ten1/1/3 and Ten1/1/4.
