Port on a Nexus 6000 or Nexus 5000 status is "down (SFP not inserted)", even though an SFP is present. SFP can be moved to another port and it works there.
Seen on Nexus 6001 running 7.0(2)N1(1) and a Nexus 5548 running 7.0(5)N1(1) Doing a reload doesn't solve the issue.
A possible workaround is to use the "debug hardware internal bigsur port ethernet eth1/27 force_qsfp_insert" command on the Nexus 6000 or Nexus 5600. This command is not available on the Nexus 5500 until after the firmware has been updated to a fixed version and then only for QFSP ports. Should not be needed then, but the command on the Nexus 5500 is "debug hardware internal carmel port ethernet 4/1/4 force-sfp-qsfp insert. This command is not saved across a reload however. A second workaround to get the ports up ( if the switch is not yet in production ) is to insert all SFPs, power down, remove all power cables, insert them back again and power the switch back up.
