Symptom

We may get following error when adding a port into a port-channel. %ETH_PORT_CHANNEL-3-COMPAT_CHECK_FAILURE: port dynamic logical-interface scale disable is not compatible N5k(config)# int ethernet 101/1/1 N5k(config-if)# channel-group 10 mode active command failed: port not compatible [port dynamic logical-interface scale disable]

Two Possible workarounds; 1/ Force the port to be part of the port-channel interface e101/1/1 channel-group 10 force mode ... 2/ Issue following command on the interface prior adding it to the port-channel interface interface e101/1/1 switchport trunk allocate vlan dynamic This is a default command, so won't be seen in the running-config.
