On 3560E switches, the command "ip routing protocol purge interface" is not preserved through reloads of the device. This will happen after saving the configuration to memory and reloading the switch. A console message will be generated towards the end of the boot process indicating that the command was refused. This behavior is only observed in the 12.2 versions of IOS. In 15.0 versions and later, this behavior is not observed as this configuration is turned on by default in these versions.
The platform is a 3560E. You are running affected versions of IOS. IP routing is enabled. The configuration "ip routing protocol purge interface" is in place and saved to startup configuration. The startup configuration will list "ip routing protocol purge interface" before "ip routing". See example: Startup_Config boot-end-marker ! ! ! no aaa new-model system mtu routing 1500 ip routing protocol purge interface ip routing A reload of the device will trigger loss of the configuration.
No known workarounds.
The issue is that the "ip routing protocol purge interface" command is listed before the "ip routing" command when saved to the startup configuration file. As a result, the command is marked as an Invalid command when the configuration is pushed to the device during bootup, as IP Routing has not been enabled yet.
