Overview

Before using tray T1, review the following guidelines: Note: When the Inserter Tray is filled with 8.5 inch wide (SEF) media, its default size is 8.5” x 14” If you are inserting 8.5” x 11” media, you must adjust the default of NVM 769-503 using Admin Mode Tools Refer to the System Administrator Guide for additional instruction. To insert separator sheets or cover sheets, such as blank or preprinted sheets, use the Inserter Tray T1 Media loaded in tray T1 is inserted into the finished/printed output Tray T1 holds a maximum of 250 sheets of Colotech+90. Tip: Media fed from the Inserter is not printed on However, the media is placed into the printed output at selected locations. Note: Do not load media above the maximum fill line It may cause jams or press malfunctions.   Hole-Punched Media: Load hole-punched media into tray T1 long-edge feed (LEF), and with the holes on the right side when you face the front of the Inserter. Tab Media: Load tab media in tray T1 long-edge feed (LEF), and with the tabs on the left side when you face the front of the Inserter.   Using the Inserter to Include Sheets or Tabs into the Printed Output When you insert covers, sheets, or tabs into printed documents, use the Inserter The insertion takes place after documents exit the Production Press, but before they reach the final finishing device where the output is retrieved Use only pre-printed or blank insert material. Note: When using the following accessories, position the tab sheets into the Inserter with the tabs at the lead edge: GBC ® Advanced Punch ® Pro Stapler Production Ready Finisher If you want to print on the inserted sheets, use Tray 5, Bypass, or another tray. Inserting Sheets and Tabs into Printed Output: Note: Make the properties for Special Pages unique If the properties are not unique, the print server can select the same type of media from another tray Since you want to use only the pre-printed media in tray T1 , ensure that no other media in other trays has the same properties as Special Pages For example, make unique selections for the Special Pages properties for name, size, and weight If different types of media have the same properties as Special Pages, from the print server, define a unique name for the media that you want to use Usually, cover media fed from tray T1 has a heaver weight than other loaded paper, so the cover media has unique properties.   Remove any remaining media from the tray. Load all the media required for the job into the tray. To use saddle stitch/bi-fold options, ensure that the media loaded in the main feeding tray, such as tray 1, is the same size as the media loaded in tray T1. For supported media information, refer to the  Inserter Specifications . Load the media, aligning all edges For preprinted media, load it with the printed side facing up. Note: Do not load media above the maximum fill line It may cause jams or press malfunctions. Hold the center of the paper guides and gently slide them to the appropriate media size so that they touch the edges of the media If the distance between the guides is too long or short relative to the media, jams can occur If set by the system administrator, the Tray Properties window appears on the main window of the Control Center. From the Tray Properties window, enter or verify the correct media information. Select OK to save the information and close the Tray Properties window. With the tabs at the lead edge, load tab sheets into the T1 tray When you load tabs, place the tabs face up and to the left in the tray, at the trail edge of the media When you insert pre-printed or blank tabs, the system inserts the tabs, one at a time, in the same order as they were placed in the tray Ensure that there are no partial sets. For Type , select the type of media, for example, Precut tab – Plain . From the Control Center, select tray T1 . Select the Long Edge Feed radio button. To close the Tray Properties window, select OK . Using the Fiery command workstation, submit the job file to the Hold queue on the print server. To open the Properties window, double-click the job. Set all the Properties for the job, such as Paper size, 1-sided or 2-sided, Duplex, Off, Top-top, Top-bottom, and number of Copies. Select the Media tab, then scroll down to the Mixed Media section Select New Insert . With Page Number selected, enter the page numbers after which you want to insert pre-printed or blank sheets or tabs Use a comma to separate the numbers For example, to insert a blank sheet after page 7 and page 13, enter 7,13. For Paper Size , select the size of your tabs, either 8.5 x 11 in Tab LEF or A4 Tab LEF . For Media Type , select either Tab stock (uncoated) or Tab stock (emboss) . Select Insert . Select Close . Select Print .
