Overview

If your computer is connected to an office network or home network, use an Ethernet cable to connect the printer to the network You cannot connect the printer directly to the computer via Ethernet It must be connected through a router or network switch An Ethernet network can be used for one or more computers and supports many printers and systems simultaneously An Ethernet connection is typically faster than USB and allows you direct access to the settings of the printer using the Embedded Web Server. Note:  Routers, network switches, modems, Ethernet cables, and USB cables are not included with your printer and must be purchased separately. To Connect the Printer to a Wired (Ethernet) Network Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the back of the printer, then connect the other end of the cable to a correctly configured network port, switch or router port. Note: If connecting to a switch or router, do not connect the cable to the uplink port. Connect the power cord to the printer, then plug the power cord into an electrical outlet. Power the printer on. Press and hold the WPS button on the printer for 2 seconds. Wait 2-3 minutes for the blue light to stop flashing and for the default Wireless connection to time-out. Wait 20 seconds to allow DHCP to discover the IP address using the Wired connection Print a Configuration Report to verify your IP address For details, refer to Print a Configuration Report. Press and hold the red Stop button for 2-4 seconds to print the report. Find the IP Address under Network Setup / TCP/IP Settings on the report. Type the IP address into your Web browser.  If it connects to the printer’s CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS) page, the IP address is valid.
