If your vCenter Server system has smart card authentication enabled and the clienttrustCA.pem file at /usr/lib/vmware-sso/vmware-sts/conf/ is empty, patching to vCenter Server 7.0 Update 3i or 7.0 Update 3j might fail. The issue occurs because during update, the STS service looks for certificates in the clienttrustCA.pem file and if the file is empty, the STS service fails. The issue is specific for vCenter Server 7.0 Update 3i and 7.0 Update 3j. This issue is resolved in this release. If patching to vCenter Server 7.0 Update 3i or 7.0 Update 3j has failed, re-run the upgrade to 7.0 Update 3l to make sure it completes successfully.
