The space_utility script runs as a daily cron job and by default, if a mail is not configured, cron jobs capture script output and mail it to /var/mail/root . As a result, space_utility logs might quickly accrue and fill up the root partition. This issue is resolved in this release. The fix redirects the space_utility script output to a /var/log/vmware/applmgmt/space_util_cron.log file instead of /var/mail/root and deactivates the mail for this specific cron job.
