Due to a rare issue with VECS certificates that are no longer necessary, updates to vCenter 8.0 Update 3 might fail with an error such as Pre-install failed for vmidentity:Expand in the vSphere Client. In the /var/log/vmware/applmgmt/Patchrunner.log , you see messages such as: 2024-07-08T11:06:39.692Z vmidentity:Expand ERROR vmidentity Something went wrong while reading certs from TRUSTED_ROOTS or deleting ssoserver cert: This issue is resolved in this release.
