If the packets are oversubscribed to the IDPS engine, then instead of dropping them, they would bypass the engine by default. This means that, by default, the packets that cannot be processed by the IDPS engine will be let through to their destination. Users will see alarms when the IDPS engine is oversubscribed at a high/very high level, and also when the traffic gets bypassed from the engine as a result of oversubscription.
