Introduction to ownership of a Horizon EditionHorizon 8 delivers virtualized or remote desktops and applications through a single virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) platform and allows your organization’s end users to access their desktops and applications through a single unified workspace. Each of the three editions of Horizon 8 consists of bundles of individual products that are licensed and installed separately.Where do I find my license keys?Your Horizon 8 product licenses are generally stored within the License Keys page in Customer Connect portal. The VMware App Volumes and User Environment Manager (UEM) products use license files instead of license keys. These two license files are located within the My Products page in Customer Connect.Downloading the App Volumes License File Access Download VMware App Volumes page.Select the version of the product that you have installed.Click Go To Downloads hyperlink.Click Download Now button next to the Unlimited Desktops license file. How are my Horizon 8 products licensed?Concurrent Connection User (CCU) vs. Named User (NU) LicensingHorizon Advanced and Horizon Enterprise editions are available in two license models: Per named user (NU) – For virtual environments with staff that require dedicated access to a virtual machine throughout the day.Perpetual per concurrent connection (CCU) – For virtual environments with a high number of users who share machines throughout the day, such as students and shift workers. A concurrent connection is defined as a powered-on VM and connected virtual desktop session. In this model, licenses are owned by organizations, not individual users. Note: Horizon View Standard is only available on a concurrent connection basisWhether you have chosen the NU or CCU license model, the components of your Horizon 8 bundle cannot be split between users. In this way, you can think of the individually licensed Horizon 8 components as a single product. Even if an end user in a CCU scenario is only connected to Horizon View, the other associated components of the bundle (e.g., Workspace and Mirage) are attached to that user and cannot be entitled to other users. What is bundled in each Horizon 8 Edition? Horizon 8 is available in three editions: Standard, Advanced, and Enterprise. Each edition includes all of the components needed for an end-to-end virtual desktop deployment. The Horizon Standard, Advanced, and Enterprise editions are composed of the individually licensed components.
