Symptoms
Automated Device Enrollment (formerly: DEP) into Workspace ONE UEM fails for Mac Studio devices.You see the error similar to: Enrolling with management server failed. Unexpected error (MDMResponseStatus:500)
Cause
This issue occurs because the Mac Studio devices represent a new Apple Device Model Family, and the normal device model seeding process cannot be used to enable support.
Resolution
This issue is resolved in VMware Workspace ONE UEM 22.04. For more information, see the VMware Workspace ONE UEM™ Powered by AirWatch 2204 Release Notes.Note: The assignment of existing applications and Smart Groups filtered by device model will not automatically update the assignment to include Mac Studio. Administrators should update their app and Smart Group configuration as appropriate to ensure that the correct configurations are deployed to devices.
Workaround
To work around this issue, you can manually enroll Mac Studio devices into Workspace ONE UEM.
Power on the Apple Mac Studio. Important: Do not connect the machine to a wired or wireless network.Go through the standard Apple setup process.Download and run the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub installer from https://www.getwsone.com.Enroll through the Intelligent Hub with your required credentials.Allow Workspace ONE UEM to deploy your profiles, certificates and applications.
