Symptoms
After upgrading a VMware HCX Manager to software version 4.1.0, new Network Extension operations may fail with the following error:
http failure response for https://vcenter-<REMOVED>/ui/hcx/hcx-ui/rest/hybridity/api/l2extensions?hcspUUID=<REMOVED>: 503 OK
HCX Manager GUI - Network Extension - +EXTEND NETWORKSFrom the HCX Manager 9443 Dashboard the NSX Manager URL is missing the green dot used to signifies a successful connection with the HCX Manager. The following error is also seen:
http failure response for https://<REMOVED>:9443/api/admin/global/config/nsx/<REMOVED>/status: 500 OK
HCX Manager 9443 GUI - Dashboard
Purpose
To provide guidance regarding the handling of an HCX Manager authenticate issue with NSX Manager after upgrading to HCX Manager software version 4.1.0
Cause
The errors appear due to a failure in the HCX Manager's handling of NSX Manager credentials under certain conditions after upgrading the HCX Manager to software version 4.1.0
Impact / Risks
Failure of new NSX based operations performed via the HCX Manager GUI such as the configuration of additional Network Extensions
Resolution
None at this time
Workaround
If at all possible, change the NSX Manager admin password. The new NSX Manager password can then be entered in the HCX Manager 9443 GUI to resolve the errors HCX Manager 9443 GUI - Configuration - NSX - EDIT
