Symptoms
When attempting to renew the Apple Push Notification service (APNs) certificate for Workspace ONE, an error appears under Systems Manager > Manage > Add Devices > iOS or macOS that states "Uploaded certificate mismatches with the AW certificate request."
Cause
This error may occur for multiple reasons:
The .plist uploaded into the Workspace ONE UEM Console during the APNs renewal process may have been created from a different browser session (as the Console is expecting a certificate that was renewed using a CSR file generated within the same browser session). The entire process must be completed consecutively within the same browser window. The wrong APNs certificate may have been renewed.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, it is necessary to complete the APNs renewal process again from start-to-finish.Please keep in mind:
It is recommended to wait at least 10 minutes before restarting the APNs renewal. This procedure will only be successful if the entire process is completed within the same browser session/window. Each time the renewal process is completed, it is necessary to download both a new .plist and a new .pem file, which must be utilized (rather than utilizing previous files from prior renewal attempts).
Use the UID to identify the correct APNs certificate for renewal. This can be matched by comparing the text in the Subject DN field of the certificate on the Apple Push Certificates Portal with the text in the Issued To field on the APNS for MDM page of the Workspace ONE UEM Console. You can then reference How to renew an Apple Push Notification service (APNs) Certificate to complete the APNs certificate renewal process.
