IMPORTANT: The Firmware Upgrade provided in the Resolution is recommended to prevent controller lockups from occurring.HPE strongly recommends performing this upgrade at the customer's earliest possible convenience. Neglecting to perform the recommended action and not performing the recommended resolution could result in the potential for subsequent errors to occur. On an HPE ProLiant server configured with a Smart Array controller running firmware version 3.56 (or earlier), the following controller lockup (POST error code) may appear due to timing errors (also known as 'race conditions'):1719-Slot x Drive Array - A controller failure event occurred prior to this power-up. (Previous lock up code = 0x13)These "race conditions" were introduced when the Gen9 controller firmware advanced its codebase to use multiple CPU cores in the Gen9 RAID ASIC. The use of multiple CPU cores resulted in a significant performance increase over the single core architecture present in all previous versions of Smart Array controller firmware.HPE Smart Array Firmware Version 4.02corrects the following key issues:Flash-backed write cache might fail on embedded controllers following an unexpected power down event.Controller might stop responding when running IO with an attached Shared Storage enclosure (POST Lockup 0xAB).Reduced likelihood of POST Lockup 0x13 occurrence due to intermittent memory errors.NOTE: For a comprehensive list of the fixes included with Smart Array Firmware Version 4.02, refer to the Release Notes tab of the following page on hpe.com:http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_f5c0fb4f202640e494b3df1eea&swEnvOid=4168#tab4
