Drive firmware update failures using the Drive Firmware Update (FWPKG) method via UEFI may occur with drives configured under SR100i Software RAID.Symptoms:Drives behind the SR100i controller appear as Unavailable in the AHS logs.Firmware update attempts using FWPKG via UEFI fail.iLO reports the updatable flag as false and cannot reach the drives.SPP is limited and cannot update drive firmware, as the drives are not selectable.

When updating drive firmware, the update method must be selected based on the firmware package format:Option 1 – Use HPE Smart Component (Recommended):Perform the drive firmware update within the OS using HPE Smart Component.Supported for drives behind Software RAIDRecommended operational methodOption 2 – Disable SR100i (FWPKG Method)Back up all data.Disable SR100i (Software RAID) in UEFI.Perform drive firmware updates via SPP, iLO, or UEFI.Reconfigure SR100i if required.NOTE: Disabling SR100i may result in loss of RAID configuration.
