HPE OneView may incorrectly report a critical "Firmware Failed" alert message after a firmware update is initiated from HPE OneView. Although the alert indicates a failure, the firmware update will have completed on HPE Integrated Lights-Out 7 (iLO 7) running VMware ESXi 9.0 or other supported Operating Systems (OS).Under normal operating conditions, HPE OneView will wait approximately four to five minutes to receive refreshed software inventory information from HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) after a firmware update. However, the inventory refresh may exceed this expected timeframe in certain scenarios, such as in environments with larger inventory sizes, increased network latency, or higher traffic volumes. When this occurs, HPE OneView will prematurely flag the firmware update as failed, even though the firmware has been properly applied and is functioning correctly within iLO.NOTE: This issue will occur only when firmware updates are initiated from HPE OneView to target the OS, and when the update process includes a system reboot as part of the update cycle. Similar false "Firmware Failed" messages may also be experienced because of delays during firmware update operations with AMS telemetry reporting or iLO software inventory refresh.
Any HPE Synergy 480 Gen12 Compute Modules running HPE Integrated Lights-Out 7 (iLO 7) firmware version 1.14 or later that are managed by HPE OneView.
A future release of HPE OneView and/or HPE Integrated Lights-Out 7 (iLO 7) will correct this false reporting issue.As a workaround, perform one of the following actions:If HPE OneView reports a firmware failure, but the iLO firmware flashing logs confirm a successful update, then the OneView message can be safely ignored.ORAllow additional time for software inventory synchronization to complete.ORAfter HPE Agentless Management System (AMS) completes the inventory propagation, manually refresh the Server Profile Firmware view in HPE OneView.
