Certain HPE NVMe Solid State Drive (SSD) models listed in the Scope section with firmware version HPK5 or earlier or version HPS5 or earlier may experience an uncorrectable PCIe bus error with an error code of 0x00200000. The error is an access control services violation.This error occurs in servers using a hypervisor or Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) when a guest Operating System (OS) has a direct connection to the NVMe drive. The error messages in HPE Integrated Management Log (IML) will appear similar to the text below:Critical,528,36983,0x0014,System Error,0x0005,Hardware,01/08/2026 22:31:02,381: Unrecoverable I/O Error has occurred.The system firmware may log additional details in a separate IML entry, for example:Critical,528,37002,0x0008,PCI Bus,0x0003,Hardware,01/08/2026 22:31:04,382: Uncorrectable PCI Express Error Detected. NVMe Box 1 Bay 1 (Segment 0x0, Bus 0x0, Device 0x1, Function 0x2).Uncorrectable Error Status: 0x00200000 ACTION: Update the firmware of the device. If the issue persists, replace the failing device.This error will occur due to responses from the NVMe drive shortly after it receives a function-level reset when a guest operating system is started before it finishes re-initializing.

This issue is resolved by updating the 7450 and/or 7500 firmware for HPE NVMe SSDs.
