When updating a hypervisor cluster profile, the following error message may be displayed:"IssueThe actual state of the server hardware does not match the expected state.ResolutionRetry the operation. If the problem persists, contact your authorized support representative and provide a support dump."NOTE: Similar errors can occur when doing an update from template to a regular server profile update (not using a hypervisor cluster profile). The error above shows the error from updating from a template to a regular server profile update. This issue may also occur if the Server Profile Template (SPT) is updated and then an update from template is applied to a server profile before the hypervisor cluster profile. The Server Profile Template changes that may cause this issue include:Changing the port settings for network or Fibre Channel adaptersChanging the Ethernet MAC AddressChanging a Network Connection to Enabled/Disabled or modifying a function typeConnection Boot Mode ChangedNote: If a profile that includes the "Manage boot order" setting has not been reapplied after upgrading to OneView version 10.00, the appliance may report a personality change.Changing the boot mode on any connection in the server profile template (e.g., from PXE to iSCSI, from SAN to Unmanaged)This is not an comprehensive list but a sample of possible changes that may cause this issue.
HPE OneView versions earlier than version 11.00.
This issue is resolved by updating toHPE OneView 11.00or later.NOTE: It is highly recommended to update to OneView 11.00 or later as the workaround can take significant time in a large hypervisor cluster. The following workaround is available for earlier OneView versions:Before doing an orchestrated update, that includes the new firmware baseline, perform a profile refresh and check if any alerts are seen in the profile. (This step is required only if any external modification has been done in the server profile template.)If an alert is found, power off the server and re-apply the profile by selecting "Connections." This will resynchronize the profile and the server data. (This step is required only if any errors are found as mentioned in the above step #1.)When the profiles are without alerts, then the orchestrated update for the firmware can be started. This should only cause the firmware update, and the profile update should complete without errors.
