HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) supports Redfish subscriptions that send Redfish events to a subscriber, typically a management application, when changes occur on the server. If an attempt to deliver a Redfish event fails during the SSL handshake, all future Redfish events for all event subscribers may stop being sent. This can cause the following conditions.Failures may not be displayed in the management application, such as HPE OneView and HPE Compute Ops Management.Hardware status displayed in the management application may be out of sync. Example server power status may be displayed as on when the server power is actually off.Automatic case creation may not occur when a failure occurs. In HPE OneView the following alert will also be displayed:HPE OneView did not receive an expected REST event notification from the server’s iLO {server_name}. It is possible that event notifications from the server are not reaching OneView, resulting in impaired monitoring and management capabilities for that server. The following may be impacted:• Firmware update using Smart Update Tools (SUT).• Inventory updates (CPU, memory, disks, adapters, firmware/software and others).• Local storage configuration.• Detection of other changes such as UID light status and power state (which can affect profile apply performance).Resolution Follow the steps provided below until this alert has cleared.• Ensure that both the outbound and inbound TCP port 443 are not blocked by a firewall. Both outbound (HPE OneView to iLO) and inbound (iLO to HPE OneView) ports must be enabled for REST events to be successfully received in HPE OneView.• Refresh the server hardware after enabling the TCP port 443.• If refreshing the server hardware did not clear the alert, reset the iLO and then refresh the server hardware again.Figure 1: HPE OneView alert displayed
Any management application that uses Redfish subscriptions such as OneView and Compute Ops Management on any HPE system with iLO 5, iLO 6, or iLO 7.
