Rebuild does not start automatically after replacing HPE MR Gen11, Gen10 Plus, and Gen10 Storage Controllers with an existing set of HDDs/SSDs when the logical drive was degraded and one or more drives have failed on the original controller.

To prevent this issue, HPE recommends replacing MR controllers only when all volumes are optimal. Do not replace a controller if any volume is degraded or rebuilding; if you do replace it, manually start the array rebuild on the new controller via the "Elements Actions" section at the right of the HPE MR Storage Administrator (MRSA) window to bring the volume to optimal.To start a manual rebuild on the new controller, perform the following steps in the "Elements Actions" section on the right side of the HPE MR Storage Administrator (MRSA) window to manually start the array rebuild on the replacement drive.In theDrives>Unconfigured Good Drivessection, select the replacement drive and clickAssign Dedicated Spare.The Arrays dialog will display. Select the degraded array to assign the Dedicated Spare.The replacement drive is now changed to "Configured, status Rebuild."Once the rebuild is complete, the disk will appear as "Online" and the array as "optimal."
