The Data Services Cloud Console and On-Array UI on the HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 report the amount of Used versus Free Space on the array. This value does not account for all used space in the system. In some circumstances, the actual used space in the system can near 100% while the reported used space in the UI is still significantly less than 100%. Although the system will raise alerts when the actual used space crosses defined thresholds, these alerts would appear to conflict with used space reported in the UI, causing confusion about which is correct. Ultimately, not taking action to free up space when needed can cause the array to run out of space and fail subsequent write attempts.
HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 running HPE Alletra Storage ArcusOS versions prior to 10.5.50 is affected by this issue.
Starting with HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 release 10.5.50 (or later), the UIs display both usable and raw space usage. The raw space value accounts for all used space in the system and aligns with any space usage alerts generated by the array OS.Data Services Cloud Console is also being updated to display the raw space usage information for HPE Alletra Storage ArcusOS versions prior to 10.5.50. This notification will be updated when a solution is available for those versions such as 10.4.20.As a workaround for versions prior to 10.5.50, the total percentage of used space can be obtained via the CLI or API calls as follows:CLI:% showsysAllocCap / TotalCapOrAPI:/api/v1/capacity ('.allCapacity.totalMiB) / (.allCapacity.allocated.totalAllocatedMiB')
Operating Systems Affected:HPE GreenLake for Block Storage 10.1, HPE GreenLake for Block Storage 10.2, HPE GreenLake for Block Storage 10.3, HPE GreenLake for Block Storage 10.4
