For any HPE ProLiant Gen12 systems configured with the network adapters listed in the Scope section below, the adapter firmware update may fail when using SUM and SPP Gen12 version 2025.09.00.00 (or earlier). When this issue occurs, SUM will report a successful deployment; however, the network adapter firmware will not be updated. This issue occurs when the iLO Repository already contains an older instance with the same firmware component filename. The firmware component uses an identical filename across multiple versions. When SUM detects the same .fwpkg filename in the iLO Repository, it does not overwrite or reimport the file. As a result, the older firmware version is redeployed instead of the intended newer version.
In the scenario described above, any HPE ProLiant Gen12 systems configured with any of the following network adapters:Broadcom BCM5719 Ethernet 1Gb 4-port BASE-T Adapter for HPE (P51178-B21)Broadcom BCM5719 Ethernet 1Gb 4-port BASE-T OCP3 Adapter for HPE (P51181-B21)
If this issue has already occurred, perform the following steps:Log into the iLO web interface.Navigate to Firmware & Software > Firmware Update.Locate the BCM5719 adapter firmware file.Remove it from all the locations where it may reside, such as the Repository, Queue, and Install Sets.Rerun SUM with the desired SPP, or single component package. SUM will import the correct package and update the adapter to the targeted firmware version.
