The iLORest command stops responding due to the 'sem.HPE_Tools_Semaphore' file created and then not deleted by another user on the Operating System.When a non-privileged account runs any iLOrest command (e.g., iLOrest appaccount create --self -u <hpe iLO users> -p <hpe iLO users password>) the command in current user context creates a '/dev/shm/sem.HPE_Tools_Semaphore' file. The iLOrest command fails, in this case for the non-privileged OS user, but the iLOrest failure process does not remove the '/dev/shm/sem.HPE_Tools_Semaphore' file. As a result, any subsequent iLOrest command will stop responding while waiting for the removal of the '/dev/shm/sem.HPE_Tools_Semaphore.'
Any HPE system with any version of iLO 7 firmware and iLOrest version 6.0.0.0, 6.1.0.0, or 6.2.0.0.
iLORest requires any version of iLORest be uninstalled prior to installing iLOrest. Then install iLORest version 6.3.0.0 (or later).Refer to the iLORest Installation Guide:iLOrest installationFor the OS running the iLOrest command, use the appropriate privileged OS user to delete thesem.HPE_Tools_Semaphore.The Semaphore file can be viewed at different paths on the different Operating systems below and can use the appropriate command to remove the file.Linux: The Semaphore can viewed at path dev/shm/sem.HPE_Tools_SemaphoreWindows: Semaphore will be created under \BaseNamedObjects. It can be viewed in the WINOBJ tool.ESXi: On ESXi, Semaphore will be managed by the kernel. It is unable to be viewed as rebooting the ESXi will clean up the unused/stray semaphones.
