Upgrading the Cumulus Network Operating System (NOS) requires close adherence to supported upgrade paths and methodologies. Not all versions are eligible for direct upgrades via the NVIDIA repository. In many cases—particularly with major version changes—a fresh binary installation is required to prevent system corruption or compatibility issues.For example, upgrading from Cumulus 5.10.x to 5.11.x mandates a binary installation, as repository-based upgrades are no longer supported for major releases. However, minor version upgrades (such as from Cumulus 5.9.1 to 5.9.3) can still be performed safely using the repository method.
