HPE Storage MSL6480/MSL3040/MSL2024 Tape Libraries and HPE Storage 1/8 G2/G3 Tape Autoloaders used with the HPE Storage 1/8 G2 Autoloader and MSL Tape Library Encryption Kit and Commvault software logs the following error under certain circumstances:PLK_NOT_AT_BOT_WO_READDrive tickets:The drive reports Sense Code of data protection with ASC/ASCQ:746Fh. This decodes as "PLK_NOT_AT_BOT_WO_ READ". The "PLK_NOT_AT_BOT_WO_ READ" message means that the library requested an encryption token (PLK) when not at the beginning of the tape (BOT) without reading from the beginning of the tape. Check conditions can be found in the drive support ticket’s SCSI log.Library Tickets:The following is an example of requesting and providing key requests to the drives in the library informational event log:NOTE: When this error occurs, no faults are logged in the library event ticket log.Commvault Logs:The Commvault software is logging the check condition reported by the drive in Sense Code: Illegal Request with ASC = 0x74, ASCQ = 0x21.The following is an example of a Commvault log noting the error:

Having both "host-based" and "PLK" encryptions enabled at the same time causes this issue.
