Operating HPE servers in an acoustic-sensitive environment may cause high fan speed driven by the fallback sensor or the protection mechanism in the missing sensor or failed sensor state scenarios. To prevent the constant effort on the system, HPE server provides the flexibility of fall back sensor On/Off feature with the following clear warranty precaution, which is documented in the "HPE server management with Redfish" error messages."HPE recommends that fallback sensors not be disabled. In the event that you elect to disable the sensor, you acknowledge that such action will result in loss of thermal protection of the part or component and could result in failure and damage to the system. Disabling the sensor may also lead to an abrupt system shutdown and potential loss of data. Customer agrees and acknowledges that HPE will not be responsible for any related loss of data. Furthermore, parts or components that HPE determines failed due to Customer disabling the fall back sensor will not be provided, repaired, or replaced."Potential consequences of disabling the fallback sensor for a PCI or OCP sensor:PCIe option card sensor:System performance degradation due to thermal throttling will be generated. Data loss and/or transmission slow down and/or shutdown may occur due to the transceiver overheating. Component damage is possible.OCP option card sensor:System performance degradation due to thermal throttling will be generated. The OCP NIC card is capable of shutting the system down when the temperature reading exceeds the "Fatal High Threshold" as the physical shutdown signal is routed to the CPLD. Component damage may occur.Note: Only the fallback sensor of PCIe and OCP sensors are allowed for disabling and re-enabling.
