The following is information pertaining to the usage of a 2280 to 22110 conversion adapter P65057-001 BKT, M.2 Riser, 2280, G10P to enable the installation of 2280 form factor NVMe RI M.2 MV SSD Option Cards on both the P20292-B21 HPE NS204i-t Gen10+ NVMe Boot Cntrl, and the P26463-B21 HPE DL36X G10+ x16/x8 M.2 NS204i-r Riser.Boot Controllers NS204i-t and NS204i-r only support 22110 form factor NVMe RI M.2 MV SSD Option Cards. OEM suppliers of the M.2 SSD options have retired the 22110 form factor for the 480Gb and 960Gb capacity drive cards and have replaced them with equivalent 2280 form factor drive card versions. Product using those boot controllers will be required to use a special 2280 to 22110 M.2 Card Adapter to enable the installation of the 2280 M.2 SSD cards options and spares.
This impacts customers ordering Standalone Multi-Vendor M.2SSD Option Kits or Spares Kits for the following Gen10 Plus products:HPE Apollo 2000 (ProLiant XL220n, ProLiant XL225n, ProLiant XL290n) and HPE Apollo 65000 (ProLiant XL645d) configured with Boot Controller NS204i-t P20292-B21, and 2280 M.2 SSD Drives: 1) P40513-H21 HPE 480GB NVMe M.2 MV SSD or 2) P40514-H21 HPE 960GB NVMe M.2 MV SSD.ORHPE ProLiant DL360, ProLiant DL365, or ProLiant DX360 Gen10 Plus when configured with "R-19" Boot Controller NS204i-r P26463-B21, and 2280 M.2 SSD Drives: P40513-B21 HPE 480GB NVMe M.2 MV SSD or P40514-B21 HPE 960GB NVMe M.2 MV SSD.Spares Kits:
HPE has begun the gradual introduction of the 2280 to 22110 conversion adapter P65057-001 BKT, M.2 Riser, 2280, G10P on the affected product configurations.HPE will also incorporate this adapter solution to the corresponding NVMe RI M.2 MV SSD Standalone Option Kits and Spare Part Kits for the affected products. This advisory will be updated when additional adapter implementations become available. The following 2280 to 22110 adapter installation steps must be followed when installing 2280 M.2 Cards on the above product configurations:Start: Identify the M.2 drive location on the boot controller.(NS204i-t Gen10P Boot Controller P20292-B21/P25438-001 (ProLiant XL645d Gen10 Plus, ProLiant XL220n Gen10 Plus, ProLiant XL225n Gen10 Plus, ProLiant XL290n Gen10 Plus PCIe x16/x8/M.2 Riser P26463-B21 / P28340-001 ProLiant DL360/365 Gen10 Plus, ProLiant DX360 Gen10 Plus).Step 1: Place the extension bracket on the Boot Controller standoff and engage the attachment screw by hand. Note that the top side of the bracket must face outward.Step 2: Hand-tighten the screw for the extension bracket (finger-tight).Step 3: Insert the M.2 drive into the connector on the boot controller at an angle, then connect it to the bracket and engage the attachment screw by hand.Note: Provide support to both the M.2 drive and extension bracket while engaging the attachment screw to prevent damage to the components.Steps 1-3:Step 4: Secure the M.2 in place by tightening the attachment screw firmly, taking care not to strip the threads.Note: Provide support to both the M.2 drive and extension bracket while engaging the attachment screw to prevent damage to the components.Note: During the fastening process, ensure that the mylar on the bracket remains in full contact with the edge of the SSD module and that both parts are aligned.Step 5: Secure the extender bracket to the standoff by tightening the attachment screw firmly, taking care not to strip the threads.Steps 4-5:Document VersionRelease DateDetails2September 16, 2025Updated Conversion adapter part number and affected platforms list1June 25, 2025Original document release
