There is a timing issue in HPE MR Gen11 Controller Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) drive discovery. As a result, the Bay and Box NVMe drive location will not be displayed in the One-Time Boot Menu. This issue is specific to NVMe drives and does not occur with SAS/SATA drives, which are discovered and initialized correctly during Power-On Self-Test (POST).
This issue affects the following HPE MR Gen11 controllers in Gen12 platforms:HPE MR408i-o Gen11 x8 Lanes 4GB Cache OCP SPDM Storage Controller (P58335-B21)HPE MR408i-p Gen11 x8 Lanes 4GB Cache PCI SPDM Plug-in Storage Controller (P74775-B21)HPE MR416i-o Gen11 x16 Lanes 8GB Cache OCP SPDM Storage Controller (P47781-B21)HPE MR416i-p Gen11 x16 Lanes 8GB Cache PCI SPDM Plug-in Storage Controller(P47777-B21)HPE MR216i-o Gen11 x16 Lanes without Cache OCP SPDM Storage Controller (P47789-B21)HPE MR216i-p Gen11 x16 Lanes without Cache PCI SPDM Plug-in Storage Controller(P47785-B21)
This issue is resolved in HPE MR Gen11 controller firmware version 52.32.3-6333:HPE Compute MR ControllersThe following workaround can be used to access and identify the NVMe drive:Obtain the SCSI ID from the One-Time Boot Menu:NOTE:While the Bay and Box location of NVMe drives may not be visible, the SCSI ID can still be accessed from the One-Time Boot Menu.Use the iLO GUI to Map Volume Information:Navigate to theHost > Hardware > Storage > Volumessection within the HPE iLO GUI.The volume ID displayed in this section corresponds to the SCSI ID shown in the One-Time Boot Menu.Use this mapping to correlate the SCSI ID with the physical drive Bay and Box location:Revision HistoryDocument VersionRelease DateDetails2November 4, 2025Updated the Resolution section with firmware version 52.32.3-6333, which contains the fix1May 8, 2025Original Document Release
