In rare instances, while setting up an HPE OneView Server Profile with a Fibre Channel (FC) downlink for SAN connections to an HPE Synergy FC Host Bus Adapter (HBA), the "Requested" bandwidth may not enumerate the "Auto" option. This does not impact any functionality; only 16Gbps and 32Gbps options are presented for the "Requested" bandwidth property setting. This is due to a limitation when the value for a Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF)-defined property from the adapter is not sent in response to a Redfish query from HPE OneView. In such cases:If the Host Bus Adapter is an HPE Synergy 3530 16Gb FC or HPE Synergy 3830 16Gb FC HBA, the "Requested" bandwidth (Gbps) that is selected defaults to 16Gbps.If the Host Bus Adapter is an HPE Synergy 5830C 32Gb FC or HPE Synergy 5330C 32Gb FC HBA or HPE Synergy 5331C 32Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter the "Requested" bandwidth (Gbps) can be selected from either 16Gbps or 32Gbps.This behavior is depicted as represented below:
In rare cases, the scenario described above may be exhibited on that downlink connection to Host Bus adapters - Synergy 5830C 32Gb FC HBA or Synergy 5330C 32Gb FC HBA or HPE Synergy 5331C 32Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter or Synergy 3530 16Gb FC HBA or Synergy 3830 16Gb FC HBA from HPE Virtual Connect SE 32Gb Fibre Channel Module or HPE Virtual Connect SE 16Gb Fibre Channel Module.
This issue is resolved by updating to HPE OneView 11.10 combined with applicable versions of iLO firmware and FC HBA firmware listed below, based on the system configuration:iLO firmwareHPE iLO5 v3.17 (Gen10 and Gen10 Plus)HPE iLO6 v1.73 (Gen11)HPE iLO7 v1.20.00 (Gen 12)FC HBA firmwareNOTE: The following FC HBA firmware versions are available in Synergy Service Pack (SSP) SY-2026.01.02.HPE Synergy 5830C 32Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter v2.05.01 (Gen10, Gen10 Plus, Gen11)HPE Synergy 5330C 32Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter v14.4.731.1 (Gen10, Gen10 Plus, Gen11)HPE Synergy 5331C 32Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter v14.4.731.5 (Gen12)Once the above combination of firmware and OneView are updated, the "Auto" option for Requested Bandwidth in SAN Connections will be available, after following these steps:Remove the impacted server hardware from the enclosure that is mapped to the same hardware type.Delete the Server Hardware Type (SHT) that is mapped to the server hardware in step 1.Re-insert the server back into the enclosure.Add/edit the SAN connection under the Server Profile and set the Requested Bandwidth toAuto.Revision HistoryDocument VersionRelease DateDetails3February 17, 2026Updated the entire Resolution section with details of the fix2May 16, 2025Updated the second bullet in the Description section, updated the Scope section, and the affected products to include HPE Synergy 480 Gen12 compute and HPE Synergy 5331C 32Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter1April 28, 2025Original Document Release
