When performing a Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) update using an HPE Smart Update Manager (HPE SUM) local host guided update method on a server with HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) with a storage controller supporting both BMIC and MCTP RDE (for example, an SR controller), HPE SUM will show the firmware updated as successful while the iLO installation queue will show an exception for one of the update tasks after a server reset.Note that the firmware of the drives is still updated with this process.SUM showing update as successful:The iLO installation queue shows the update task as Pending before a server reset:The iLO installation queue shows the update task as an exception after a server reset:
Any HPE system with HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) and with an SR controller.
This error message can be safely ignored since the drive firmware is still updated.ORUse some other SPP update method, such as remote/iSUT, Offline, COM, or OneView.
