When updating the HPE MR Gen11 or Gen10 Plus controller firmware from the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) using the Remote Deployment Mode, the Purple Screen of Death (PSOD) and theControllerPreviousError(0x7f833119)IML event may be observed when all of the following conditions are met:The controller firmware is version 52.26.3-5379 (or earlier).The server OS is VMware ESXi.The MR controller firmware is updated with SPP version 2024.11.00.00 (or later) in the Remote Deployment Mode, which contains MR controller firmware version v52.28.3-5681 (or later).The System ROM or Server Platform Services (SPS) update is included in the same install set of the SPP update.SPP update example (System ROM, SPS, and MR controller firmware update from v52.24.3-4948 to 52.28.3-5681 in the same install set):PSOD snippet:ControllerPreviousError (0x7f833119) IML event snippet:

This issue is resolved inHPE MR416i-p, MR216i-p, MR416i-a, MR216i-a Gen10 plus Controllers and MR416i-p, MR416i-o, MR216i-o, MR408i-o, MR216i-p, MR408i-p Gen11 Controllers Driver (64-bit) for vSphere 8.0 version 2025.09.01(or later).NOTE: Avoid updating System ROM/SPS firmware with MR controller firmware version 52.26.3-5379 (or earlier) at the same time. Instead, update each component firmware separately to avoid this issue.As a workaround, if the PSOD occurs after updating each firmware simultaneously, ignore the event and reboot the server to resolve the issue.
