When an offline firmware update is attempted in HPE OneView, an unexpected power-cycle issue may occur:This will occur with HPE Gen12 servers with HPE Integrated Lights-Out 6 (iLO 6) and a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system. As a result, the server will remain in a powered-on state even after the firmware update is complete. The firmware update job will be marked as a failure; however, the firmware update of all of the components will complete successfully.
Any offline firmware updates via HPE OneView 9.30 or later for HPE Gen12 hardware with HPE Integrated Lights-Out 6 (iLO 6) and a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system.
As a workaround, manually power off the server(s), wait for the POST to complete and re-apply the firmware update. This issue will be corrected in a future HPE OneView release. This advisory will be updated as more information becomes available.
