After updating to OneView 8.60 or 8.90, the OneView User Interface (UI) may display the following error message on any managed server: " Unable to get type data An unexpected error occurred ." This occurs due to the lack of a value for the parameter family in the Server Hardware Type of older generation servers. The script in OneView will not be able to handle a null value for the family parameter and the issue will occur when the script is checking all Server Hardware Types.
HPE OneView version 8.60 or version 8.90 with obsolete server hardware types, such as the following managed servers: ProLiant BL460c G7 ProLiant BL460c Gen8 ProLiant DL385p Gen8 ProLiant DL360p Gen8 ProLiant DL360e Gen8 ProLiant DL380p Gen8
This issue can safely be ignored because it has no functional impact to HPE OneView or the servers. The issue is corrected in HPE OneView 8.70. Update to OneView 8.70 or later. However, it may re-occur with OneView Version 8.90. With this version, create a backup from OneView and download a support dump. Contact HPE Support and reference Document ID a00136096. Contact your local country HPE Customer Support or log a case via the HPE Support Center. NOTE : If OneView 8.6 or 8.7 is being used, the method below can delete the obsolete Server Hardware Types that has not yet been deleted. Delete Obsolete Server Hardware Types (SHT) The Rest API can be used to correct the obsolete SHT since this occurs in the HPE OneView database. It is recommended to use the Rest API or PowerShell interfaces. Find the Server Hardware Types with no value for its property family by using HPE OneView API Reference 5800 command(s). The following command can remove the obsolete Server Hardware Types: DELETE https://{appl}/rest/server-hardware-types/{id} This will remove the SHT with a specified URI. A server hardware type cannot be deleted if it is associated with a server hardware or server profile resource.
