Info
When the Intel Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) drive mode of the HPE Embedded Storage control is configured on an HPE ProLiant Gen10 Plus server, the fan speed reaches 32% (or above).
A sensor named "AHCI HD Max" that reports temperature readings of the drive in VROC mode controls the fan speed when Agentless Management Service (AMS) is running.
There is an issue where the server does not show the AHCI HD MAX sensor after installation of AMS Versions 2.51.4.0 for Microsoft Windows on HPE platforms running Intel Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC).
Scope
Any HPE ProLiant Gen10 Plus server when the Intel Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) mode of the HPE Embedded Storage control is configured, and HPE Agentless Management Service (AMS) Version 2.51.4.0 for Microsoft Windows was installed on HPE platforms.
Resolution
To avoid the high fan speed, download the
Agentless Management Service (AMS) for Microsoft Windows x64 Version 2.51.4.1
(or later) along with the iLO 5 Channel Interface Driver. The "AHCI HD Max" sensor will report temperature readings of the drive in VROC mode and control the fan speed accordingly.
