Devices may not be discovered as Management Component Transport Protocol (MCTP)over PCIe Vendor Defined Messages (VDM) endpoints after updating Intel SPS firmware from version 6.00.03.039 (or earlier) to any version through either of the approaches below:
HPE Service Pack for ProLiant.
HPE SPS smart components of Windows Server, Linux and VMware ESXi.
Online ROM Flash Component for Windows x64
Online ROM Flash for Linux
ROM Flash Firmware Package
When this occurs, one or more of the following can happen:
The firmware update process via HPE Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) may ends with a failure.
For example:
The package "Intel Firmware Package For E810-XXVDA4 Ethernet 10/25Gb 4-port" updates Deployment status: Unable to run component.
The package name "Intel Firmware Package For E810..." may be replaced by any drives, network cards, storage controllers.
The device firmware (Drives, Network cards, Storage Controllers) may fail to be updated through iLO web page.
For example:
"Intel Firmware Package For E810-XXVDA4 Ethernet 10/25Gb 4-port" component updates Result: The update failed with a component specific error. Retry the update after fixing the component error.
The device firmware name "Intel Firmware Package For E810..." may be replaced by any drives, network cards, storage controllers.
The device information(firmware version, status) displayed in the iLO web page may not be correct.
Scope
Any of the following HPE ProLiant servers :
HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen10 Plus server.
HPE ProLiant ML30 Gen10 Plus server.
HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus v2 server.
Resolution
This issue has been fixed with the Server Platform Services (SPS) firmware version 06.00.03.200 (or later):
HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen10 Plus server.
